Stories, lessons, and life told through memories from the Goal Post and other artifacts.
The legends, myths, and cautionary tales my dad told me during our late night conversations.

A lifelong passion for sports and educating
Rick Obrand was a legendary school teacher in Los Angeles for 40 years, and he sparked a lifelong passion for sports research when he started memorizing baseball card stats in grade school. Seven decades later, Rick amassed an amazing collection of vintage sports programs and other writings, including the iconic UCLA game day program, the Goal Post (c. 1930-1972). In the classroom and at home, Rick blended these passions to create memorable lessons that promoted fairness, hard work, compassion, and responsibility; and almost always punctuated by the perfect sports anecdote. The Goal is to Post at OB’s Goal Post, and to share some of Dad’s wisdom and passion.
“In this class, we use the ‘F’ word. That’s spelled F-A-I-R. I won’t always do what you want but I promise to always be fair.”
